Emirates Consumer Price Index Goes Up By 1.43% In First Half Of 2011
The National Bureau of Statistic published the overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the UAE for the first half of 2011 which is increased by 1.43% compared to its value at the end of the first half of 2010. The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the UAE reached 116.10 in June 2011, and with comparison with the base year (2007 =100); It increased by 0.44% compared to its value at the end of May 2011, and increased by 1.73% compared to its value at the end of June 2010.The findings of the CPI for June 2011 at the national level indicate increases in the following major expenditure groups: - Furniture and Other Items +2.34% - Food and Soft Drinks + 1.44% - Miscellaneous goods and services +0.67% - Housing + 0.17 % - Transportation + 0.02% - Textiles, Clothing and Footwear + 0.45% At the same time, there were decreases in other major expenditure groups: - Communications -0.29% - Restaurants & Hotels - 0.01% - Recreation and culture -0.01%.
