Media Boom In UAE Contributes To Increased Student Enrolment In Communication Degree Programs
Canadian University of Dubai, a leading research and teaching institution in the UAE, has announced that it expects demand for communication-related programs to significantly increase in the UAE, driven by a growing demand for qualified communication professionals in the country. The university noted that the growing popularity of various forms of media channels such as the internet, film, advertising, TV and radio broadcast have opened exciting possibilities for graduates of various communication-related courses.Canadian University of Dubai has recently launched a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication program, specializing in either journalism (print and electronic), advertising or public relations. It is also the first foreign university in the UAE to offer either English or Arabic as the medium of instruction for its Mass Communication program.

To celebrate the launch of its new Communication courses, Canadian University of Dubai has also announced a 10 per cent discount on fees for all enrollees of the program who register before July 31st, 2011. The university also announced a scholarship scheme that is very attractive. .
Canadian University of Dubai’s Mass Communication program offers core courses and electives, including Principles of Writing for the Media, Communication Theories, News Reporting, Designing Media Messages, Public Opinion, and many other courses. Students will also be given a chance to do a practicum. Moreover, the program is designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge to enter professional fields such as publishing, editing, production, planning and research. Graduates may also find jobs in any communication capacity in areas as varied as diplomacy, business, government, non-profit agencies, professional associations, healthcare companies and international organizations.
Established in 2006, the Canadian University of Dubai consists of the School of Business, School of Architectural Studies and Interior Design, School of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology, and School of Environment and Health. The university currently offers 19 degree programs accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR). At present, CUD serves 1,600 students from over 86 nationalities at its Dubai campus that is strategically located in the heart of Dubai’s financial, business and tourist district.
