UAE Wins 24 Of The Stevie’s 2011 International Business Awards
UAE companies featured prominently in this year’s final results of the Stevie Awards as the winners of the upcoming International Business Awards 2011 (IBAs) are announced. The United Arab Emirates has won 24 of the Stevie’s 2011 IBAs, coming in 3rd place among the list of global winners.The achievement underlines the country’s competitive and unique business climate, which has made it one of the world’s top three countries in business and commerce, preceded only by the United States of America that won first place in 42 prizes and South Korea that won 29, superseding advanced nations such as the United Kingdom, Turkey, and Germany, who attained 22, 11, and 10 prizes respectively.
Shiekha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, the Minister of Foreign Trade, said she was pleased with the results adding that this achievement is a source of pride for the entire country.
The Minister said that the UAE’s attainment of these rewards reflects the wise leadership’s correct approach and the government’s sound strategy in supporting local businesses, encouraging continuous development, advancing the country’s competitiveness, and ensuring that national companies are adopting the best commercial practices that are compatible with local, regional and international markets.
She added that this accomplishment by UAE companies, preceding many advanced countries in this regard, indicates the success of the country’s wise leadership’s support of national companies and the private sector, and moreover underlines the entrepreneurship and creativity encouraging aspect of the UAE economy.
Abu Dhabi is scheduled to host the "8th International Business Awards 2011" under the patronage of Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, marking the first time they are hosted in an Arab city.
The Minister’s support of the IBAs comes within the framework of the Ministry of Foreign Trade’s efforts to commercially promote UAE companies and economic corporations, showcase their production and export abilities and facilitate their outflow to world markets.
Sheikha Lubna added: "The United Arab Emirates is an advanced role model in adopting the best practices in the area of business, and it continues to export its unique experiences in development to different parts of the world", pointing out to the successful investments of tens of UAE companies from various sectors in various world countries.
Al Qasimi congratulated the winning UAE companies, calling on them to work harder and to further develop their competitiveness in order to retain their achievements and attain more in the future in a manner that would be reflective of the country’s advanced economy and developed global standing.
As many as 3,000 nominations were assessed by a selective panel of judges who witnessed an increased level of participation in this year’s competition following months of intense competition from all over the world. Organizations and individuals from 35 nations, including first-time winners Bahrain, Peru, Saudi Arabia, and Slovakia, have been announced as Stevie Award winners in This Eighth edition of Annual International Business Awards, the world’s only international, all-encompassing business awards program. Winning 42 Stevie Awards this year, organizations and individuals in the United States made the best showing. South Korea came in second place with 29 awards, while the host nation United Arab Emirates earned an impressive 24 Stevies, United Kingdom earned 22 awards followed by Turkey with 11 and Germany with 10 Stevies. Stevies are conferred upon top-scoring nominations in each category, as chosen by an international judging panel of more than 150 business leaders.
Nicknamed the Stevies from the Greek word "crowned," the International Business Awards will be presented at a gala ceremony on Tuesday, 11th October at the prestigious Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Under the Patronage of Sheikha Lubna Al Qassimi, Abu Dhabi plays host to The International Business Awards, the world’s premier business awards as it debuts in the Middle East. The Stevie Awards were created to honour and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and business people worldwide. Beginning with The American Business Awards in 2002, the mission was to raise the profile of exemplary organizations and individuals among the press, the business community, and the general public. In short order the Stevie has become one of the world’s most coveted business awards.

This year’s notable winners include; Germany’s Siemens AG (Company of the Year - Conglomerates), Yun Jong-Yong, CEO, South Korea’s Samsung Electronics (Executive of the Year - Electronics), UAE’s Etisalat Group (Most Innovative Company of the Year - Middle East and Africa), India’s Everonn Education Limited (Fastest Growing Company of the Year and Best New Company of the Year), Canada’s Cascades Intelligent Antibacterial Paper (Best New Product or Service of the Year - Health Products and Services), USA’s ITT Corporation (Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year and Turkey’s Finansbank A.S. (Marketing Campaign of the Year).
