Anwar Gargash: Broad Participation In The Federal National Council Elections Supports The Steps Of Political Development
His Excellency Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Minister of State for Federal National Council, and Chairman of the National Elections Committee said there has been strong participation from candidates for the FNC elections on the first day of candidate registration."A large number of candidates registered on the opening day, which is a positive sign highlighting the strong interest of the electoral college members in the FNC elections. We hope that all members will exercise their right to vote and contribute to ensure the success of the electoral experience.”
Dr Gargash said the commencement of candidate registration is an important step in the electoral process and will have a significant impact on citizen interaction by the election day, scheduled for September 24, 2011.
"We expect hectic activity following the completion of candidates’ registrations. We hope that everyone supports this step, which in important in enhancing political participation and empowering the Federal National Council,” he said, during a visit to the Nominees Registration Center of the Abu Dhabi Committee.
"We seek through the current election, a shift in the political environment of the UAE, especially since the electoral colleges represent different segments of the UAE society, which will be reflected on the way FNC functions in thefuture,” said Dr Gargash.
Dr Gargash expressed appreciation for the efforts made by the National Election Committee and UAE Committees for ensuring the success of the registration process.
"The candidates’ registration is progressing as planned and there is no delay in the registration process, which is completed in a short span of time after verifying the required documents submitted by the candidate. The feedback from the candidates is positive and demonstrates the commitment of the organization to ensure a smooth registration process,” he said.
The candidate registration will be held for four days, until Aug. 17, from 9 am to 3 pm and the final candidate list will be announced on Aug. 28, 2011.
