UAE Central Bank To Put In Circulation An Amended AED 500 Currency Note
The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates announced today that it has decided to put in circulation an amended AED 500 currency note, reprinted with new security features as follows. The optically variable stripe feature is replaced by a window in see-through on the front right side of the note.In front of a bright background, it shows the denomination value 500 in ornamental circles; whereas, in front of the dark background, an ornament design becomes visible. Extending throughout the window, there is an optically variable stripe showing the National Emblem, falcon head and denomination value, the appearance and colours change depending on the viewing angle.
The silver metallic thread on the back of the note is replaced with a broader 3mm colour shifting window thread reading UAE 500. The metallic ink surrounding the UAE emblem on the top front of the note is replaced by multicolour ink print. The metallic silver ink at the bottom left of the bank note is replaced by melticolour latent image. The falcon on the reverse side of the note is made smaller and there is no intaglio printing on the reverse side of the bank note.
This currency note will be put in circulation as legal tender along with currency notes currently in circulation with effect from Tuesday 29/11/2011.
The said note will be dispensed to banks in accordance with the Central Bank’s established procedures for cash withdrawal and deposit, said a release from the Central Bank.
