Sharjah third electronic auction for special plate numbers records over AED9 million in revenue
The Sharjah Police General Directorate has announced the success of its third "Electronic Auction" for special plate numbers, organised in collaboration with Emirates Auction from March 26th to April 1st. The auction saw stern competition until the very last moments, recording over AED 9 million in revenue. The great interest shown by bidders was evident in prolonging the bidding deadline to 23:00, where 645 bidders from inside and outside the UAE competed under the watchful eyes of almost half a million people who observed the auction on their smartphones and the Emirates Auction’s website.
The auction presented 100 special plate numbers, including the two-digit numbers "15" and "66". The plate number "66666" saw 469 bids, the largest number of bids at the auction, and was sold for AED559,000. Plate number "15" won the highest bid with AED1.4 million, followed by plate number "66" which sold for AED1.14 million.
Brigadier Saif Al Zeri Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, expressed his contentment over the outcomes of the auction and thanked Emirates Auction, whose collaboration helped achieve the excellent results.
