Great scientific discoveries and achievements are the pinnacle of civilization and have enriched human life, making it more accessible and enjoyable, said HE Mohamed Ali Al Noman, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. This came in his message issued on the occasion of the MOSAIC 2012, which opened here today under the patronage of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah at the Sharjah Higher Colleges of Technology at University City of Sharjah and in the presence of a larger gathering of dignitaries, media representatives and top academic and scientific experts in various knowledge disciplines. In his message, Al Noman said that the SCTDA was proud to sponsor and associate itself with MOSAIC 2012 as it celebrates science and encourages students to constantly strive for scientific excellence and expansion of their knowledge frontiers. He said it is this yearning to discover the unknown that has been responsible for greatest human discoveries, turning our world into a global village. "There is no doubt that throughout the history of human evolution, from one stage to another and in every age, change is the only constant. This is the story of our evolution and this is what Mosaic 2012 represents,” he said. Association with events like these helps us stay in touch with the community and reminds us that the provision of knowledge and methods of modern scientific culture enable our society to compete in the business world, said the SCTDA Chairman. “This renewal of scientific interest and insight into the world beyond our borders comes through the vision of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and the Ruler of Sharjah who has always strived to make the emirate a centre of learning and culture,” he said. This is also part of our efforts to promote Sharjah and attract world attention to the emirate’s formidable achievements on the cultural, scientific and social fronts. “We support events and activities that further these goals,” he added. The Mosaic 2012 this year highlights the scientific talent and creativity of the students of Higher Colleges of Technology Sharjah. The event is taking place at the University City of Sharjah which is home to many universities including American University and Sharjah University, the Academy of Police Sciences and the Institute of Judicial Training Center of UNESCO and the Dr. Sheikh Sultan Al Qassimi Centre for the Gulf Studies and many other institutions. |
