The Sharjah Airport Authority participates in Air Cargo Europe 2017, which is taking place on May 9-12, 2017, at the Messe Munchen, Munich, Germany, as part of its efforts to promote the airport regionally and internationally, and present its competitive strengths in air cargo operations in the UAE and region. Sharjah International Airport has a proven track record of handling large volumes of cargo annually, providing a one stop hub for the rapid handling of air cargo operations. This participation is part of the success of Sharjah International Airport in terms of air freight operations, as it successfully handles sensitive cargo shipments which require the presence of a multidisciplinary team to inspect the consignment immediately. For example, the airport performance is consistently excellent when it comes to the arrival of endangered species of animals that must be immediately transported to their cages in the dedicated protected areas in addition to the shipments of medicines and medical materials that are subject to thorough examination to ensure that they have the necessary approvals and compliance with health requirements to ensure proper access to medical warehouses.
The delegation from Sharjah International Airport is headed by HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Airport Authority, and with the presence of H.E Sheikh Faisal Bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority. The delegation will hold a series of meetings with representatives from the world’s leading air freight forwarding companies to stay abreast with the latest developments in the air cargo industry, particularly the modern technologies and logistic solutions, with the aim to improve the air freight services and address the challenges faced by partners. HE Ali Salim Al Midfa said: “We look forward to exchanging ideas and exploring the best ways to increase the growth rate of air cargo globally, following the emergence of alternative solutions that have affected the conventional air cargo activities”. HE added: “Air Cargo Europe is one of the world’s largest industry exhibitions that provides an ideal platform for networking opportunities and our participation is part of the airport’s commitment to enhance its regional and international reputation through communication and cooperation with partners around the world. “Thanks to its consistent development strategy, Sharjah International Airport has become a major destination on the international air freight map. The development includes an air freight centre and modern equipment to provide superior services and facilities to air cargo agents. We will introduce these capabilities during the exhibition in an effort to attract more air freight companies to operate in the airport”, HE concluded. Sharjah International Airport is a leading air cargo hub in the region, with five cargo terminals that have a total floor area of 32,000 square meters, in addition to cargo aircraft parking spaces, equipped to handle 16 aircrafts of different types at the same time. The biennial Air Cargo Europe is the world’s leading trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management. It provides an ideal platform for aviation and air cargo professionals to network, discuss the current challenges and stay abreast with the latest technologies. |
