Expo Centre Sharjah Holds Training On Exhibitions Sector Development At Eastern Region

In line with its commitment to elevate the exhibitions and events industry around the Emirate of Sharjah, Expo Center Sharjah has held a training workshop at the Eastern Region. The workshop, held last Thursday in collaboration with Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences, focused on enhancing competitiveness of exhibitions, and applying best international standards in the field. Attendees included several stakeholders in the exhibitions and events sector in the Eastern Region. The workshop aimed at enhancing the skills of workers in this vital sector in the Eastern Region, via exploring international best practices and standards. It comes in preparation for the rich line-up of events scheduled to be held in this region over the coming months. The workshop was conducted by Professor Khadija Laqees, a college professor specialized in event management and exhibitions. Professor Laqees covered essential aspects pertaining to strategic and systemic planning in this sector, as well as basic principles, management skills, active preparation, and logistics associated with event management and exhibitions. Commenting on this workshop and the great success it achieved, HE Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, Chief Executive Officer of Expo Centre Sharjah and Chairman of UFI's MEA Chapter, said: “This workshop comes in response to the meeting held between Sharjah Chamber and Expo Centre Sharjah on one hand, and several executives and stakeholders in event management companies in the Eastern Region, in parallel to Khorfakkan Economic Forum. We organized this workshop in order to support entrepreneurs and SMEs in the industry in the Eastern Region of Sharjah.” “Professional organization and management of events and exhibitions is an advanced science that follows international standards and precise methodologies, while at the same time inviting creative approaches and innovative ideas,” Al Midfa added. For his part, Mahmoud Al Jarrah, Secretary General of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences, said: “This workshop comes in line with the Union’s plan to develop the industry around the Arab World, and the success of this program will be replicated with several other regions where member entities operate.” Al Jarrah thanked Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, represented by its Chairman HE Abdullah Sultan Al Owais; and Expo Centre Sharjah, represented by its CEO HE Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, for their support to the Union’s activities and plans, especially in organizing this leading workshop, which will motivate the union to organize more workshops and training programs in various countries around the region. |
