Sharjah Finance Department was announced as the winner of the “Excellence Award for Arab Government Achievements 2017”, during the award presentation ceremony that was organised by Pan Arab Excellence Awards Academy at Citystars Hotel, Cairo, yesterday (Monday). The department won the Best E-Service category in recognition of its suppliers’ and contractors’ registration portal. A number of the department’s outstanding services were nominated for the award. This portal, which is designed for UAE-based businesses looking to work with Sharjah government departments, was selected as the winner of the E-Service category. The registration E-Portal for vendors and contractors is among the many excellent services provided by the SFD. It facilitates the registration procedures of approved vendors and contractors in the Sharjah Government. HE Waleed Al Sayegh, General Director of the Sharjah Finance Department, said: “The Government of Sharjah is leading the way in adopting the best technologies and systems. The finance department always strives to win local, regional and international awards which mark the excellence of both the department and the emirate of Sharjah. The SFD is keen to participate in any event that may help boost its regional and pan-Arab successes. Sharjah is considered to be the first emirate to adopt its own electronic payment system and the first government in the region where people use the Emirates ID card to pay fees for departments and authorities of the Sharjah Government”. Excellence and achievement: The E-service is connected with the procurement and warehousing system in the government finance system (Takamul). More than 10,000 suppliers and contractors were registered easily via the portal, without the need to visit the department. Connection and integration were facilitated between the auto registration and approval of the bank details of vendors and contractors. The system is, also, provided with auto transfer of the payable amounts. Suppliers and contractors can view the full billing process through the E-portal. The Sharjah Finance Department has taken many measures to develop and modernise its electronic and smart services, facilitating procedures for customers. In addition to its excellent e-payment system and the other payment options, the department adopted payment through the use of the Emirates ID card, which was one of the revolutionary payment methods developed after the agreement with the Emirates Identity Authority. This allowed users to open individual accounts and connect the ID cards to several banks and exchange companies. Sharjah is the first Arab city to use this groundbreaking e-payment solution. The Sharjah Finance Department regularly offers financial and administrative applications and systems to improve performance and streamline procedures. SFD’s vision of innovation-based financial systems to ensure sustained growth is becoming a reality. |
