17th Sharjah International Narrators Forum (SINF) Concludes On A High Note, Commemorating The Spoken Word With Tales Of Adventure
(28 September 2017)

SINF this year awarded 117 storytellers and narrators for their oratory skills, in addition to those who choose to spin their yarns for the first-time

Storytellers from around the world that gathered over the 17th edition of Sharjah International Narrators Forum (SINF) inspired visitors to the event with a mix of ancient tales and contemporary stories. The event which was held from September 25th – 27th across varied locations of Sharjah, ended on a grand note commemorating the spoken word with tales of adventure, folk stories and uplifting experiences.

Held under the theme, ‘Saga and Epics’, the 17th edition of the Sharjah International Narrators Forum (SINF) featured a line-up of 117 narrators and storytellers, providing them a chance to share their tales and perspectives on a wealth of subjects.

Speaking on the sidelines of the closing ceremony, HE Dr Abdulaziz Almusallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage Institute and Supreme Committee of SINF said, “The art of storytelling has always had deep roots in Arab culture. It has been the fabric of the Middle East for centuries, infusing life with a sense of drama and suspense. This year, the 17th edition of SINF was magical. While the forum acknowledged several experts, it also introduced a new ensemble to promote young talents across the globe.”

“Over the years, The Sharjah International Narrators Forum has turned out to be the world’s finest forum for storytelling. Under this year’s theme, the forum offered adults and researchers an opportunity to reflect on stories packed with emotion, humour and insightful experiences. In the past few years, the forum has moved from strength to strength, and we’re confident that the next edition will be bigger and better,” concluded HE Dr Abdulaziz Almusallam.

SINF this year held 19 of workshops, roundtables and events to promote and celebrate storytelling for years to come. While the main goal of the forum this year was to keep the oral tradition of storytelling alive by sharing stories from all over the world, it also inspired the visitors to share their stories with their friends and family.

HE Dr Abdulaziz Almusallam extended his deepest gratitude to all the partners, co-chairs, volunteers, tellers and audience members who made the 17th edition of SINF such a special event.
