Sharjah Institute for Heritage, SIH, is celebrating the "New Zealand Heritage Week" as part of the World Cultural Heritage, starting from 23rd October. The opening ceremony will be attended by Dr. Abdulaziz Almusallam, Chairman of the Sharjah Heritage Institute and a number of officials from public and private sectors. Under the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and as part of the SIH’s activities that aim to introduce international cultural heritage, the institute is launching a monthly programme, as from this year, to celebrate the heritage of friendly and brotherly countries. The weeklong celebration is planned to be held at one of the heritage houses in the Heart of Sharjah and will showcase different aspects of the cultural heritage of that country. The activities, which show the institute’s openness to global cultural heritage, will include handicraft demonstrations, folklore, traditional cooking skills and photo and art galleries, in addition to the screening of documentary films about the heritage of the guest country. The celebration programme will include folklore songs and dances performed by bands throughout the week. |
