Affairs In Sharjah Promotes Health Awareness Of Community Members By Organizing Initiatives On Mental Health And Nutrition

The Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, In line with the World Health Organization, recently organized several health awareness initiatives to raise health awareness for Sharjah residents and the UAE, and promote healthy behaviors that contribute to the prevention and control of diseases. These efforts target various groups of society and include interactive workshops, seminars, and educational lectures to ensure that the correct information on health and wellness is delivered optimally. The initiatives have also seen extensive participation from many partners including The General Directorate of the Sharjah Police and Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority. Iman Rashid Saif, Director of Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs stated: "We are working under the guidance of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, to enable the members of the community to obtain the correct health information that maintains their psychological and physical health, and provide them with excellent health care that ensures their happiness and their ability to contribute in all areas.” Saif stressed that The Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah seeks to provide integrated awareness programs, through doctors and health educators who provide the latest information and health advice to the public. These professionals will also discuss the free tests available for many diseases and health indicators, which benefit community members and give them the opportunity to steer themselves towards a healthier lifestyle. Under the slogan, "Mental Health in a Work Environment," The Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, in cooperation with Sharjah Police, organized a lecture on the health of the employee. The lecture included the nutritional, physical, psychological and behavioral effects that can impact the health of the employee. The talk also focused on the impact of unhealthy dietary habits of employees, such as drinking caffeine and soft drinks, and drew attention to specific behaviors that negatively affect their physical health, such as smoking and wearing high heels. The lecture also warned employees of tensions and stress that can harm their mental health. “Five Days”, the five-day event organized by the Friends of Kidney Patients Society at the Health Education Department and targeted at children at the Kindergarten level, observed a significant interaction between the children and their families, as well as the teachers and supervisors. The aim of the event was to encourage children to eat fruits and vegetables, in order to ensure a healthier development in their younger years. As part of its celebration of the World Arthritis Day, the Friends of Arthritis Patients Society in the Health Education Department, in cooperation with the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, organized a lecture to raise public awareness of the disease and its methods of prevention. These methods include free of charge tests for diabetes, blood pressure and Osteoporosis, as well as the distribution of brochures and leaflets on arthritis in both Arabic and English. |
