Sharjah Children Biennial Offers Children’s Art For Sale In Aid Of Refugees

Sharjah Children Biennial (SCB), organised by Sharjah Children Centres (SCC), will take part in the ninth edition of Abu Dhabi Art Fair, with an impressive array of artwork created by children and young adults aged 6 to 18 years. Fifteen pieces will be offered for sale with proceeds going to Jordan’s Zaatari Refugee Camp through The Big Heart Foundation, in line with SCB’s initiatives in the Year of Giving. The SCB stand at the fair, taking place from 8-11 November at Manart Al Saadiyat in the capital Abu Dhabi, showcases the youngsters’ creative talents, expressing their dreams and highlighting their ambitions and aspirations for their communities. The pieces illustrate that a child’s imagination goes far beyond the boundaries of the real world, in perfect alignment with the theme of the fifth edition of SCB, ‘A World as Big as your Imagination’. SCB will also organise a number of interactive artistic workshops at the Abu Dhabi Art Fair designed for visitors and young artists to help them develop their talents and benefit from the experiences of established and renowned artists. The fifth edition of SCB took place from 5 January to 15 February 2017, and featured 376 pieces of art created by children from all over the world in three categories: Architecture Design, Environment, and Fantasy and Reality. SCB is held once every two years under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Founded in 2008, SCB is an international cultural and artistic event dedicated to children around the world. It aims to nurture children's creative talents and unlock their potential in various artistic domains, in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council Ruler of Sharjah. A first-of-its-kind in the UAE and greater GCC region, SCB is organised by the Sharjah Children Centres, a subsidiary of the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators. Abu Dhabi Art Fair offers an outstanding platform that celebrates the capital as a vibrant destination for all genres of contemporary art. It features a rich programme of talks and panel discussions moderated by many respected names in the world of art. The four-day event presents live performances and innovative galleries and exhibitions, showcasing exceptional artworks at Manarat Al Saadiyat and across the capital, to interact with the community and highlight Abu Dhabi’s contribution to cultural and artistic fields. |
