Sharjah Ladies Club Puts Safety As Number One Priority
(25 November 2017)

During a Certified First Aid Essentials training for Basateen Preschool Centre staff

Continuing its number one priority to ensure the well-being of children at the Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) Basateen Preschool Centre, staff took part in a certified first aid course to ensure they have the most appropriate and effective skills to handle any onsite accidents and emergencies.

The training, which was organised and accredited by Early Year Education Service Middle East, emphasised the importance of child safety, building a healthy and safe environment and raising the safety standards of those working within the educational field in the region.

The training provided participants with the necessary knowledge, understanding and skills to support paediatric first aid in a preschool setting. Topics included the roles and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider, assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of an injury and illness and assisting a casualty effectively and with confidence.

Rifat Khan, Child Development Consultant, from Basateen Preschool Centre said: “It has always been our primary concern that the children are in a safe and secure environment and part of that is making sure that we have fully qualified teams who are ready and able to treat any injury or illness, no matter how large or small. Ensuring safety is not a one-off event, it is constantly evolving and we will continue to evolve with it, increasing the capabilities of our employees and strengthening the well-being of our charges.”

All successful trainees were issued with a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, which isvalid for three years, although it was recommended that learners refresh their skills and knowledge every year.

Basateen is committed to promoting and extending the learning and development of each child attending the centre through providing quality early childhood care and education.
