Sharjah Chamber organizes ’Tunisian Organic and Food Stuff Producers’
(10 December 2017)

Tunisian Organic and Food Stuff Producers, which is organized by Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Commercial Representation of the Tunisian Consulate in Dubai, was launched on Sunday with the participation of more than 60 companies from Tunisia.

The Chamber will host the meeting for two days to discuss opportunities to develop economic and trade relations as well as mutual investment between the local business community in the Emirate of Sharjah and their counterparts in Tunisia in the field of food trade and industry.

The meeting was attended by HE Khalid bin Butti Al Hajri, Director General of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HE Lutfi bin Amer, Consul-General of Tunisia in Dubai,  Abdulaziz Shattaf, Assistant Director-General for Members Services at SCCI and a number of companies operating food trade and industry sector at the state and Emirate levels.

HE Khalid bin Butti Al Hajri stated that the organization of this meeting comes from Sharjah Chamber’s eagerness to build the best relations of cooperation between the business community in the Emirate of Sharjah and the Tunisian business community in the framework of brotherly relations between the UAE and Tunisia. This is in line with Sharjah’s keenness to promote joint Arab action in order to contribute to further development and prosperity in the Arab countries.

Khalid bin Butti added that through joint efforts with the Tunisian Consulate in Dubai, SCCI is looking forward to promoting and increasing trade exchange between Sharjah and Tunisia by building the best partnerships and obtaining exclusive distribution agencies and contracts as well as other areas of constructive cooperation that serves the interest of investors and businessmen in Sharjah and Tunisia.

Khalid bin Butti called on Tunisian investors and businessmen to get acquainted with the areas of partnership and investment, and to take advantage of the incentives and facilities offered by the emirate of Sharjah in its various economic sectors, as it is considered a vital regional center for business and expansion in the region. He pointed out that the meeting succeeded in attracting more than 70 Tunisian companies, which reflects the eagerness of Sharjah Chamber to provide all means of support and assistance for Arab and foreign investors.

Khalid bin Butti stated that the forum is a suitable platform for holding meetings between the food trade and food production sectors, which includes representatives from thousands of companies in the UAE, and the visiting Tunisian companies. He added that this platform is a way of getting a closer look at possible opportunities for cooperation, and can help contribute in strengthening economic relations and the development of trade exchanges and investment partnerships that are supported by the Chamber and supported by the joint agreements signed between the UAE and Tunisia.

Lutfi bin Amer, Consul-General of Tunisia in Dubai, expressed his thanks to the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) for their support and cooperation for this important meeting, which is part of a series of joint activities aimed at enhancing cooperation and developing relations between Tunisia and Sharjah, as well as increasing trade exchange and joint investments. He pointed out that the investment opportunities that are available are large and varied and can be translated into viable economic projects. He also expressed that his country welcomes UAE investors, and that they are eager to provide all means of support in order to facilitate the start of their businesses and investments in Tunisia, in order to enhance the volume of trade exchange between the two sides.

At the end of the opening session of the meeting, Khalid Bin Butti and Lutfi bin Amer toured the exhibition accompanying the industrial and organic Tunisian products presented by the participants in the meeting.
