SCC Committee Discusses Sharjah Seaports And Customs Department Activities

During its meeting yesterday with officials from the Sharjah Seaports and Customs Department, the Sharjah Consultative Council's, SCC, Economic, Industrial and Financial Affairs Committee discussed the activities of the local ports and customs sector in the emirate. The meeting took place as part of the preparations to discuss the department’s policy during a Consultative Council session to be held tomorrow, to review provided services and support to promote commercial activities. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Seaports and Customs Department, and Mohammed Mir Abdulrahman, Director of the Sharjah Seaports and Customs Department, as well as several other officials. During the meeting, Sheikh Khalid said that the department has achieved a lot in developing its facilities and attracting and supporting international companies to use local ports, which contributed to a rise in shipping and trading activities, as per the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The Council’s members also discussed the department’s goals and competencies, as well as its role in the national economy and achieving local economic development, and its services and operations. |
