Expo Centre Sharjah is keen to develop the activities of SteelFab Middle East by adding new side-events to enhance its role as one of the world’s leading events in the metal working and steel fabrication industry. HE Saif Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Centre Sharjah, gave a speech at the opening of “SteelFab Fabricators Meet” on the sidelines of the 14th SteelFab Middle East 2018, which opened on Monday at Expo, with more than 1000 brands from 43 countries around the world. Al Midfa announced the launch of the “Middle East Fabricators Forum” and the “SteelFab – Middle East Fabricators Awards 2019”, the first of their kind in this region. He pointed out that the awards will be given to steel fabricators & engineering firms in recognition of their efforts to adopt the best practices and develop modern manufacturing requirements. The award categories will include amongst others, categories for “machining/turning”, “welding and cutting”, “sheet metal working,” “structural steel fabrication” and “pipe & tube fabrication.” It also includes general awards such as “Operations,” “Safety,” “Environment,” “Media/information” and “Adapting New Technology.” Al Midfa stated that SteelFab – Middle East Fabricators Awards and the Fabricators Forum are new initiatives launched by Expo Centre Sharjah under the patronage of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as part of its efforts to stimulate the steel fabrication industry in the UAE and the region, as well as supporting and serving oil, gas, construction, infrastructure projects and other fields, through gathering metal manufacturers, stakeholders, international associations and institutions from different parts of the world. Al Midfa pointed out that the membership of the 'Steelfab Fabricators Forum' will be open to all the related manufacturers in the Middle East region and Expo Centre Sharjah will allocate more resources for the forum activities in the coming years. He stated that the objectives of the forum are to facilitate meetings of the members at a quarterly or semi-annual basis, and to encourage scientific and professional dialogues or discussions among them. Industry 4.0 Seminar The first day of the forum witnessed a specialized scientific seminar presented by Mr. Humam Al-Faqir, of Salvagnini Middle East, titled "Industry 4.0", in which he spoke about the fourth industrial revolution and the rapid technological development that leads to the digital interaction between smart machinery through a large digital network worldwide. It is expected that the fourth industrial revolution in the manufacturing industry will lead to broad progress in the machinery industry and will be applied through the exchange of data through physical cyber systems, and industrial techniques that promote smart industries and new innovations in the world of technology. The SteelFab exhibition and forum, the largest of its kind in the metal and steel industry in the Middle East, will be held until the 18th January, and it takes place over 24,000 square meters, with participation from the leading countries in machinery manufacturing. Germany, Italy, Turkey, Taiwan, India, China and the UAE, are well represented on the show floor. For the first time, Schweissen & Schneiden (Welding & Cutting) pavilion is presented at the SteelFab show, as also the ITA – The international Tube Association. The exhibition includes a number of events including industry seminars on the second and third day of the show covering the important & most relevant subjects for industrial fabrication & manufacturing. SteelFab 2018 is open at Expo Centre Sharjah till 18th January 2018 with the show timings as 10 am to 7 pm daily. Admission is free for all visitors. |
