Sharjah Press Club, Thomson Reuters Host Workshop On Digital Journalism

The Sharjah Press Club (SPC), a part of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, in cooperation with Thomson Reuters, a leading multinational news agency and mass media and information giant, hosted a successful workshop on Digital Journalism that wrapped up today (Wednesday, February 28) at Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah. The 3-day workshop was attended by 20 journalists and officials working in media departments of various government organisations and entities in the Emirate. Various sessions of the workshop were conducted led by Thomson Reuters’ trainers Heba Kandil and Fadi Ramzi, touching on a series of issues in Digital Journalism like utilising latest techniques in compliance with international press standards; its impact on the speed of access to information and the effective use of new technologies and techniques, both in written and graphic forms. Speaking about the objective of the media workshop, Asma Al Juwaied, Manager of the Sharjah Press Club, said that the workshop is part of the Sharjah Press Club’s annual training plan, aimed at enhancing and improving the skills of the SPC members, staff and communication and journalism students, in cooperation with international media institutions and specialists such as Thomson Reuters. Al Juwaied added, “The Sharjah Press Club is keen on keeping pace with the continuous advancements in digital media and helping introduce these latest advancements to everyone in the government communication sector, allowing them to perform their duties effectively and contribute to the strategy and goals of the media.” The SPC organises a number of events and workshops throughout the year and actively contributes to the development of opportunities for all those engaged in the field of journalism and government communication sector. In line with the vision of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, the SPC is keen to coordinate with international media agencies and stakeholders to enhance cooperation, communication and exchange of experiences and knowledge. |
