Sharjah Ruler Praises UoS Research Team For Winning IDB Scholarship

H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, UoS, today received, in his office at the UoF, a research team from the Health and Medical Sciences Compound who won the Islamic Development Bank, IDB, scholarship in scientific research. Sheikh Sultan praised the team for winning the scholarship and congratulated them for their achievements. During the meeting, Sheikh Sultan also discussed the importance of the team’s research project, which aims to discover new and unique drugs to combat known drug-resistant bacteria. The research project was selected from over 1,500 research papers from around the world and will be implemented by the Health and Medical Sciences Compound, where preliminary research and experimentation on the new drug will be conducted on animals before being approved for human trials by the United States, US, Food and Drug Administration. The UoS team includes Dr. Talib Al Tal, Dr. Farah Al Marzouq, Dr. Hani Omar, Dr. Zinem and Dr. Raafat Al Awadi. The members of the team thanked Sheikh Sultan, while pointing out that his support, care and monitoring of the university reflects the international status and excellence of its students and professors from various fields. |
