The Sharjah Stamp Exhibition is celebrating its tenth anniversary during the upcoming edition which will kick off tomorrow Tuesday and run until 23 November. The exhibition is organized by the Emirates Philatelic Association (EPA) in cooperation with Mega Mall Sharjah. In this context, the organizing committee of the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition said that it has prepared an impressive edition full of surprises. The largest event of its kind across the GCC is witnessing the first debut of China and Pakistan, besides New Zealand, Australia, Iraq, and a number of GCC countries. This year’s edition will feature a unique collection of postage stamps while highlighting their history and culture legacy either in the UAE or the world. Also, the exhibition is bringing together under one roof philatelists, stamp collectors, and hobbyists from all over the world to know more about rare stamps and extend their collections through exchanging or purchasing transactions. A Qualitative Addition “The EPA, jointly with Mega Mall Sharjah, is intending to mark the tenth anniversary of the exhibition through a series of activities and surprises, including new collections of unique and rare postage stamps which chronicle various historical events in a number of countries showcasing their acquisitions for the first time,” said HE Abdullah Khoury, President of the Emirates Philatelic Association. Khoury added: “The participation of China and Pakistan is forming a qualitative addition to the event, thanks to their vast experiences in stamps collection and their long and mutual postal history with the UAE. This is also a good opportunity for philatelists to learn closely about the postal history of both countries and acquire new stamp collections.” “This year’s edition will full of surprises and activities as it will witness the presence of the President of the International Federation of Philatelic Societies Bernard Piston to participate in specialized seminars that will be organized for the first time on the date of the exhibition, in addition to the establishment of competitive competitions supervised by a jury from the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (FIAP) and Emirati arbitrators,” he concluded. A New Look For his part, Mohammed Sorour, Marketing Manager of Mega Mall Sharjah, said: “We are glad to organize this important annual event and we are eager to make this edition an all-new one on the tenth anniversary of the exhibition and in line with the Emirate of Sharjah’s position as a leading destination for tourism, shopping, and hobbies-related cultural identity.” “We would like also to welcome our guests from inside and outside the UAE, who will have the chance to enjoy Mega Mall’s unique shopping experience and take advantage of its distinctive services. The mall management has prepared many facilities for the participants, in light of the expected large turnout for the exhibition which represents the primary destination for those interested in collecting rare and unique stamps and currencies,” he added. In conclusion, Sorour stressed that the increased number of participants and visitors to the exhibition every year is clear-cut evidence that philatelic is still having lovers and fans. With the aim of enhancing the shopping experience and introducing the postal history of Emirati, Arab, and foreign stamps, the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition is constituting a perfect opportunity for fostering cooperation and fraternity ties among philatelists and stamp collectors. Moreover, the exhibition is providing detailed information about the Emirati and Arab legacy through postage stamps dating back to the 19th century, besides highlighting the significant events, through which the Arab and International postal bodies released commemorative stamps chronicling such events. |
