The Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Excellence Award reviewed ongoing preparations to honour winners of award’s 4th edition in an official ceremony to be held on February 12. The event will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, at Expo Centre Sharjah. This was announced during the meeting held on Yesterday “Monday” at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry headquarters, SCCI, chaired by H.E. Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, SCCI’s Chairman, in the presence of members of the Award Board to Trustees, SCCI’s Director-General, HE Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, and Nada Al Hajri, General Coordinator of the Sharjah Excellence Award. The meeting shed light on the preparations being done to organize the annual ceremony of honoring economic facilities. A total of 18 winners have been approved by the board during the gathering. Moreover, the meeting reviewed the list of strategic partners and sponsors who will be honored during the ceremony, as well as the evaluation schedule, the arbitrators, and the Award’s annual training courses, which are approved by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). Enhancing Positive Competitiveness “The SCCI is keen on encouraging excellence and creativity to push the private sector forward into new horizons towards growth and development and fostering its role in the economic integration process by focusing on developing the performance and efficiency of private sector enterprises, not only in Sharjah but also in the GCC,” said H.E. Abdullah Sultan Al Owais. commending the efforts of the award team, who proved worthy and high efficiency, Al Owais added that the SCCI is eager to achieve the wise vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at promoting positive competitiveness, raising the level of institutional performance, and adhering to comprehensive quality standards in UAE and Gulf private sector facilities. An Endless Development HE Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi stressed the importance of developing the Sharjah Excellence Award and strengthening its status aa one of the most prominent economic initiatives aimed at developing competitiveness and creating an investment climate for the Emirati and Gulf business community and enabling it to benefit from the values of quality, leadership, and innovation. This would help improve its performance and promoting the growth of the commercial and industrial businesses, building a sustainable economy, and improving the quality of Gulf products in global markets. “The Sharjah Excellence Award is constantly evolving, as part of the SCCI’s keenness to contribute to the promotion of a culture of excellence in the private sector. This underlines Sharjah’s as a driving force for economic development and a regional hub for providing the best scientific and practical practices in the region,” he concluded. Updates as per Best Practices Nada Al Hajri highlighted reviewed the numbers of participants and winners based on the reports submitted by the evaluation committees in accordance with the updates of the 4th edition of the award to keep pace with the best global practices in business excellence field and to add many competitive advantages to the participating institutions in the seven award categories including; Sharjah Excellence Award, Sharjah Gulf Excellence Award, Sharjah Green Award, Sharjah Small & Medium Enterprise Award, Sharjah CSR Award, Sharjah Entrepreneurs Award, and Sharjah Gulf Localization Award. Worth mentioning that the Board of Trustees has approved a number of updates on the current edition of the Award 2020. This includes renaming Sharjah Economic Excellence Award to be the Sharjah Excellence Award, and changing the name of Sharjah Award for Emerging Projects in the United Arab Emirates to the Sharjah Small and Medium Enterprises Award and separating them into two categories, each of which includes two winners, who would receive AED25,000 each. These two categories include the Micro Enterprises with 5 employees or fewer and the Small and Medium Enterprises with more than 5 staff members. Moreover, the amendments included allowing all Emiratis to take part in the "Sharjah Entrepreneurs Award" category which is dedicated to the most successful businessmen in the UAE. In this category, two winners would be selected, and each of them would receive AED50,000. |
