At the 7th edition of the Arab Women Sport Tournament (AWST 2024), Jordan's Al Fuheis, the reigning basketball champion from the previous edition, alongside the tournament newcomers, Syria's Al Thawra, have firmly established themselves as the teams to watch, each securing two impressive consecutive wins in the highly competitive event.

Syria's Al Thawra continued their strong debut on Sunday, facing off Kuwait's Al-Fatat SC in a match that was as intense as it was thrilling. Opening the game, Al Thawra took an early lead, finishing the first quarter with a score of 21-19. However, the Kuwaiti team overturned the deficit to secure a 45-point second quarter, which saw them leading by 9 points at the half.

The battle for dominance persisted into the third quarter, with Al Thawra making concerted efforts to close the gap, yet Al-Fatat SC managed to hold onto their lead, ending the quarter ahead at 61-55.

The game's final stretch was a showcase of determination and skill, with both teams exchanging leads in a nail-biting conclusion. In the end, Al Thawra's relentless pursuit paid off, as they managed to edge out their opponents by a slim margin of 3 points.

In a gripping match, Bahrain's Al Ahli SC clinched a remarkable victory over Iraq's Ghaz Al-Shamal SC with a final score of 88-83. Despite trailing for the first three quarters, the Bahraini team demonstrated resilience and a strong comeback spirit, narrowing the gap to just one point by the end of the third quarter, which ended 64 - 65. The final quarter saw both teams battling fiercely, neck and neck until Al Ahli SC broke through to secure the win with a decisive five-point lead.

Meanwhile, Jordan's Al Fuheis squared off against Capital Club from Saudi Arabia in a decidedly one-sided match, showcasing their dominance as the tournament's reigning champions. The game unfolded with Al Fuheis taking command from the outset, finishing the first quarter with a lead of 17-12. Their momentum only increased as the match progressed, with the scoreline at the halftime mark reading an impressive 46-21. By the end of the third quarter, Al Fuheis extended their lead to 68-32, leaving little doubt about the outcome. The final whistle saw a commanding score of 98-57.
