Air Arabia And TRA Collaborate To Enhance Online Security
(13 June 2011)

Following a signing ceremony at Sharjah Centro Hotel, Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, announced today that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) that will lead to enhanced online security. Air Arabia will work with the TRA’s National Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT) as part of its ongoing efforts to build a secure and safe cyber culture in the UAE.

aeCERT was established by the TRA to facilitate the detection, prevention, and response to cyber security incidents. Under the terms of the MoU, aeCERT will provide consultancy services designed to safeguard the airline’s online systems from cyber attacks.

H.E. Majed Al Mesmar, Deputy Director General, TRA, said: “Today’s announcement is another important step in fulfilling the TRA’s commitment to create a safe cyberspace in the UAE. aeCERT’s expertise is crucial to ensuring a secure electronic environment in which companies such as Air Arabia can continue to excel.”

Adel Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer, Air Arabia, said: “As the region’s leading low cost carrier, a huge amount of our business is done online. Being the first airline in the Middle East to focus on Internet reservations, we look forward to working with aeCERT to ensure our customers can continue to book with confidence through one of the industry’s most secure online portals.”

The MoU is in line with Air Arabia’s commitment to make protecting customers’ personal information its highest priority. The airline uses 128-bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology on its website to encrypt all passenger data and ensure it can be securely transmitted across the Internet.
