Sharjah Museums Department Invites Orphans And Widows For Ramadan Iftar Banquet

Amidst a festive Ramadan atmosphere, the Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) recently organized a second Iftar banquet for35 orphaned children and 15 widowed women from Sharjah Charity International at the Sharjah Science Museum.

The Iftar banquet, organized in line with SMD’s social responsibility initiative ‘Because We Care’, which was launched in 2009 and its commitment to sharing religious, national and social festive occasions with all community members, and promoting the spirit of giving and sharing as a part of its efforts to strengthen communication and co-operation amongst individuals in the society.

In parallel with the Iftar banquet, SMD organized activities at the Sharjah Science Museum where the invitees were engaged in astronomical observation of the moon using a sophisticated telescope to sight the moon and monitor other planets. The event also included laser show, magic shows, face painting and a tour around the museum to see the scientific exhibits and learn more about it.

Speaking on the occasion, Manal Ataya, said: “Organizing the Iftar banquet for the second consecutive time during the Holy Month of Ramadan comes in line with its social responsibility initiative “Because We Care” so as to help needy and underprivileged people across the UAE.”

She added that this mass Iftar banquet has a special spiritual atmosphere that sought to combine entertainment and learning, stressing that SMD museums are always open to this part of the society and will continue to make use of the diverse resources to organize activities that deliver its key message of accessibility for all.

Ataya thanked Sharjah Charity International for their participation and cooperation in making this event a success.

She also stressed the importance of activating cooperation between SMD, official bodies and charity organizations in implementing effective and diverse programs.
