SCTDA Roadshow Continues In Ukraine And Kazakhstan
(4 September 2012)

Sharjah delegation, organized by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority in collaboration with Air Arabia including representatives of Tourism and Travel agencies, is heading today to Ukraine and then to Kazakhstan as part of its promotional roadshow in the CIS countries.

The CIS roadshow, second of its kind this year, has been launched on the 3rd and continues till the 10th of September.

The roadshow aims at promoting Sharjah’s year-long calendar of cultural offerings and world-renowned festivals and events, attracting more tourists to visit the emirate and discover its unique culture.

Sharjah delegation conducted two workshops in Kazan and Ekateinburg, Russia on the 3rd and 4th of September. The travel and tourism industry leaders and representatives who attended the workshops were briefed on various tourist attractions of the emirate, highlighting the SCTDA’s busy calendar of events and festivals that made the emirate one of the most favourite destinations for the Russian tourists, attracting more than 200.000 tourists last year.

On this regard, Mohamad Ali Al Noman, Chairman of the SCTDA said that this roadshow comes at a time Sharjah has proved its prominent position in the CIS tourism markets, in which tourists from these countries form 15% of the general tourism flow into the emirate. This imposes more efforts to give the bird’s eye view of Sharjah’s tourism product and promote the numerous cultural festivals and promotions organised in the emirate with Sharjah Water Festival and Sharjah Light Festival on top.

"This percentage is a big motivation to boost Sharjah’s tourism product by enhancing Sharjah’s position as a perfect family tourism environment, launching modern projects and developing infrastructure, hotels and shopping centers. Sharjah, however, is well-known for its beautiful natural wonders and rich history of Islamic culture and civilization." Al Noman added.

Al Noman stressed that the SCTDA is sparing no efforts to boost Sharjah’s economic sector keeping pace with the growth in the emirate’s tourism sector, and the number of tourism projects taking place and new hotels that exceeded 9000 hotel rooms in Sharjah today.

Through its various promotional tours, the SCTDA highlights Sharjah’s attractions and its status as a unique destination for tourism and investment. This strategy contributes significantly to the ongoing success of these tours at both the regional and international levels.

Roadshows are in line with Sharjah’s vision to solidify its presence in important tourism markets and provide more tailored offerings to tourists so as to increase the success of the emirate’s tourism sector.
