Sharjah Museums Organise Awe-Inspiring Activities And Visit Elderly Centre

Sharjah Museums to be open to visitors from 2nd day of Eid Al Adha


 

The Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) has unveiled a package of awe-inspiring, entertaining, and social events and activities that have been specially designed to celebrate Eid Al Adha and join the Arab and Muslim worlds in Eid celebrations.

As part of its preparations for Eid celebrations, SMD is all set to welcome visitors and enable them to enjoy Eid atmosphere through a diversity of fun-filled activities and entertaining events that have been specifically designed for all members of the family, including minors and adults, to enjoy the Eid’s special atmosphere.

SMD announced that its administrative staff will get a four-day official holiday from Thursday (Arafat Day), 25 October, to Sunday, 28 October. Work will resume on Monday, 29 October. SMD’s Museums will remain closed on Arafat Day and the first day of Eid Al Adha, and will then open their doors to visitors from the second day.

The Sharjah Discovery Centre will host various entertaining shows for visitors and families on the second and third days of Eid. They include the spectacular show “Sanafir” and another magic show called “Bubbles” which will take place from 4-8pm, on 27 and 28 October.

As part of the Eid porgramme and in line with SMD’s social responsibility initiative “Because We Care”, the Sharjah Art Museum’s staff recently visited the Elderly Centre in Sharjah where they presented gifts to the older people on the occasion of Eid, in order to share the joy of Eid with them.

SMD continues to implement various programmes and events throughout the year. Recently, the Sharjah Art Museum hosted the works of Emirati artist Abdul Qader Al Rais. SMD also organised an open day at the Sharjah Science Museum to observe International Astronomy Day, and also celebrated International Children’s Day at the Sharjah Discovery Centre.

Other events included a training course on Arabic calligraphy, which was held at the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum, to develop participants Arabic handwriting skills. SMD also organised various events across the country to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the landing of the first plane in the country.
