The Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) honoured media personalities and audio visual and print media, including main TV and Arabic and English language newspapers in the country, during a gala dinner hosted yesterday (Day) in the outdoor area behind the Sharjah Maritime Museum.
SMD lauded the continuous support demonstrated by the media in the successful coverage of the numerous events and activities organised by the Department.
SMD also honoured its strategic partners who contributed to the success of its nine-day celebratory programme, which was held in Sharjah from 25 November until 3 December, during which a wide range of events were held to mark the 41st anniversary of the UAE National Day.
The list of honoured entities included Sharjah Police, Supportive Services Section (Coast Control), Ambulance and Rescue Unit, Civil Defence, the Reformative and Punitive Establishment, the Sea Ports Department, Sharjah Municipality, and Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, as well as a number of private entities.
Speaking on the occasion, Maissa AlSuwaidi, Museums Services Manager at Sharjah Museums Department, said, “The immense support of our strategic partners, including government and private bodies, has had a great impact on the successful organisation of a diverse package of events and activities that helped enhance the cheerful celebratory atmosphere that engulfed the country in celebration of the 41st National Day, and managed to draw a huge public turnout.”
She added “We honour our esteemed colleagues here today because of SMD’s belief in the important role played by media as well as our eagerness to build further bridges of cooperation and contact with media in line with the principle of partnership in terms of responsibility and success.”
The honoured departments and institutions lauded SMD’s role in launching carefully-studied initiatives and programmes that allow community organisations and members to participate effectively in such events.
