Sharjah Ladies club participated in the “Earth Hour” for the third year in a row on Saturday night to address the phenomenon of continuous global climate change, where the club switched off all its facilities and departments lights and electricity for an hour between 8:30 to 9:30pm. That is within the global campaign that urges in reducing electricity consumption and its effects.
Club’s facilities held a special Earth Hour services during that time, such as the Dalouk Spa held a special massage in a relaxing candlelit ambience, as well as for the Fitness 180° held a yoga class during the hour in a peaceful candilit atmosphere. Moreover, Basateen Preschool Center also participated where the center switched off all its lights and electricity and gathered all the children of the center to witness this global event.
“It is not a strange thing on the club of participating in a global initiative campaign, since the club always seeks in adopting local and global issues which have an impact on the society and its individuals. Since this campaign has a huge impact on individuals and the environment and its contribution on the earth’s climate change. The club has decided in participating and supporting such campaign every year for the purpose of raising awareness amongst club’s members and visitors. The club decided in switching off all unnecessary power and lights for an hour. We hope as an institution worked in motivating individuals through following us in switching off all unnecessary lights”, Said Ameera Al Jariri, Events & Public Relation Manager.
It is worthy to mention that Sharjah Ladies Club participated in switching of its entire main branch’s lights along with all its departments and 11 facilities. For the purpose of raising awareness and reduction of electricity consumption, this affects the constant global climate change.
