The Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) has concluded its successful participation in Book Expo America, the leading book industry event in North America, which took place from the 30th of May to the 1st of June in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Center.

The SIBF delegation, headed by Ahmed Al Ameri, SIBF Director, and including Salim Omar Salim, Head of Sales & Marketing at SIBF, made use of the opportunity to invite publishers and other book industry professionals to participate in the upcoming 32nd edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair, which will be taking place from the 6th to the 16th of November this year at the Sharjah Expo Centre.

The SIBF Director delivered a presentation outlining the SIBF’s offering, programme, and statistics and special focus was given to inviting publishers to attend the SIBF Professional Programme, which, being held in the three days running up to the Fair, will feature a series of discussion sessions, lectures, workshops, and symposiums, among other activities related to the publishing and book industry.

Speaking about the importance of the Professional Programme, Ahmed Al Ameri, Director of SIBF said, “The first two instalments of the SIBF Professional Programme has garnered international acclaim and we look forward to yet another full and highly successful event. The Programme offers its participants an unparalleled opportunity to gain ground-roots industry insight into the publishing sector in the Middle East as well as to how international trends and developments are influencing the region’s book industry. We urge all publishers and book industry professionals who are interested in exploring field of publishing in the UAE and the region to attend and look forward to welcoming representatives from across the globe.”

The 2012 SIBF Professional Programme saw participation by 180 international and 70 Arab publishing professionals who made use of the opportunity to network, exchange ideas and experience, and benefit from the expertise of elite group of professionals and specialists.

The annual Sharjah International Book Fair was established in 1982 and is one of the four largest international book fairs in the world. It is open to the public and professionals and its 2012 edition saw the attendance of more than 942 exhibitors and 600,000 visitors.
