Al Majaz Waterfront To Keep Main Water Rides Going Due To Popularity
(18 August 2013)

Al Majaz Waterfront’s highly popular summer water themed activities programme, which ran from the 10th to 17th of August, has come to a close.

The week long fun event saw Sharjah’s most popular outdoor leisure destination turn into a fun filled water playground offering a wide range of splash rides and games.

In addition to the water themed rides the event also delighted visitors with a range of other activities and shows, including the breath-taking firework show on its opening day, water football, a carnival of roaming comedy acts and splash jugglers three times daily, fun and free workshops. A highly entertaining show titled "Pirates of the Caribbean" also took place in the Shaded Events Area for children from the 15th until the 17th of August 2013.

Speaking about the event’s successful conclusion, Mohammed Fadhil Al Mazroui, Al Majaz Waterfront Manager said, "Waves of Fun provided our visitors with the perfect break to the mid-summer heat. The water rides were extremely popular and Al Majaz Waterfront saw a significant increase in footfall during the event week. Therefore, although the main event has come to an end, we will be keeping the major rides - located in the east and west events circle - in place, which means there are still lots of water logged fun to be had by all." He went on to add that Al Majaz Waterfront’s fully automated zero-depth aquatic play area, Splash Park, would of course also still be open to bring much needed relief from the summer heat.

The Dhs120m Al Majaz Waterfront, Shurooq’s debut project, was opened March 26 2012, and is situated in Sharjah’s most vital and commercial district on the picturesque Khalid Lagoon. As one of the premier tourist and leisure destinations in Sharjah, it plays host to all major events in the emirate.

Al Majaz Waterfront also houses many world-class restaurants and cafes, including: T.G.I Friday’s, Caribou Coffee, Fat Burger, Pizzaro, Baja Fresh, Zahr El Laymoun, Tim Hortons café, Cold Stone, ElManza, a fine dining Moroccan restaurant and the soon to be opened Shakespeare and Co. All of them overlook the breath-taking Sharjah Fountain. In addition to that, Al Majaz Waterfront also houses Splash Park, Mini Golf, Play Area and "ALWAN" a unique activity centre exclusively designed for children to spend quality time with their parents or simply to have fun.
