Al Tamimi Stables, a public recreational and educational facility, located at a 40-minutes drive from Dubai, hosted a Family Fun Day on 27 September 2013. The event was abuzz with over 700 people having a wonderful timeand enjoying a one-of-a-kind outdoor experience.
The Family Fun Day started at 2pm and was jam-packed with recreational and educational activities for all age groups. The activities centered around the Heroes Programme and covered topics such as recycling, sustainability and environmental issues. Visitors explored the 30 acres of farm completewith nature trails and observed over 500 exotic birds and animals. Attendees were given an insight to rare breeds and learned fun facts. Sporting activities, pony rides, live music, dance performances, a miniature fun fair, apple bobbing, piñatas and bouncing castles kept families entertained. The petting farm experience left children squealing with joy on touching and holding small animals on the farm. Kids also got their hands dirty with the arts and crafts workshops and were assisted by their parents to create wonderful items.
Refreshments and light bites were catered by Nofara Café, and a BBQ by DISH. At the café, visitors discovered more about the array of classes and workshops conducted at Al Tamimi Stables such as Homework Club, Arabic and French Language classes, Hip Hop, Belly Dancing, Boot Camps among several others. They also learnt more about the corporate packages, school camps and concept of SENSE.
Guests parted with goodie bags and Heroes certificates.Few even won prizes by participating in various competitions and the raffle draw.

The RAK Animal Welfare Centre (RAK AWC) was present at Family Fun Day with dogs up for adoption. Jenna Blanchette, Office Manger, RAK Animal Welfare Centre said, “We have some wonderful dogs and are looking for families to adopt them. At the Family Fun Day, we showcased their obedience skills through short demonstrations throughout the day and enabled families to interact with them. A generous donation was made to the Children of the Mountain charity after the successful event. On the event day, Al Tamimi Stables also introduced SENSE, a unique social enterprise and the first ever in the Middle East to offer Animal Assisted Therapy, a form of nature-based therapies. SENSE is the winner of The Big Start 2012 and is headed by Aditi Sen, an MBA graduate from S P Jain School of Global Management. Animal Assisted Therapy provides people with a positive outlook by enhancing the quality of life through engaging therapeutic and educational workshops. This programaids in healing challenging conditions and disorders via interaction withnature. Animal Assisted therapy works great especially for children with special needs, Autism and any type of speech/ learning disorder. The therapy is closely monitored by licensed therapists working with SENSE. These therapists also work alongsideexperts in the fields of speech and physiotherapy to facilitate ongoing therapy by integrating goals with nature-based activities.
