Smiles For A Cause
(20 November 2013)

The Smile Of Hope Initiative Comes To Life On November 21st

The ‘Smile of Hope’ initiative that was announced by DEO earlier this year, culminates its community awareness and fundraising drive for Sharjah Autism Center on November 21 & 22, 2013 on the Universal Children’s Day in the form of a family event at the Al Majaz Waterfront in Sharjah.

The list of festivities includes many fun activities for children and the whole family including the Ronald McDonald Show.

Smile of Hope is organized by DEO (a Dubai based event/CSR planning firm) in association with some of major business concerns. The initiative raised funds for the Sharjah Autism Center through a participation value of AED 50 that offered a redeemable voucher value of AED 400 through partner outlets like Wild Wadi, Dubai Dolphinarium, Magic Planet, BabyShop, Toy Triangle and Antic’s Land.

Each of the more than 1500 contributors will be commemorated on a giant cube through their smiling images, which will be unveiled on the day of the event.

“Smile of Hope has been a classic example of partnerships where companies contributed in their own capacity and made this program possible in a holistic fashion. But what is more important is the way every partner organization has taken ownership of the project truly making it their own,” said Salem Al Khayyal, Chairman, DEO.

“Once again I thank our partners, Matajer, Shurooq – Al Majaz Waterfront, Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, Toy Triangle, Wild Wadi, Dubai Dolphinarium, Sharjah Cooperative Society, Hilton Sharjah, Showtech, Magic Planet, BabyShop, Antic’s Land, S.C Johnson, Emirates Industrial City, Department of Children’s Center, Transportation Solutions, Emirates NBD and McDonald’s, and congratulate Sharjah Autism Center,” he added.

“Al Majaz Waterfront is no stranger to the festive outdoor events – as the range of popular activities in our calendar can attest. This event, however, is truly special. We are here to serve the people of Sharjah and it is wonderful to be able to give back to the community that we call our own,” commented Mohammed Fadhil Al Mazroui, Al Majaz Waterfront Manager.

“Matajer Malls is pleased to support Smile of Hope, which raises awareness about autism and supports the Sharjah Autism Centre. This unique initiative has truly brought together the Sharjah community, and we look forward to the makeover that the facility will undergo as a result. As a leading neighborhood retail centre in Sharjah, we are pleased to continue to contribute to the socio-economic development and sustainability of the emirate through initiatives such as Smile of Hope,” said Walid Al Hashimi, CEO, Sharjah Holding.

In addition to a financial contribution, Smile of Hope has supported the Sharjah Autism Center, by raising awareness for autism and enhancing the social exposure of its students.

“We thank DEO and all corporate partners for their invaluable support and the proactivity with which they have put this amazing event together,” said Hisham Koutami of Sharjah City of Humanitarian Services.
