In recent years, education has become a major magnet attracting students from UAE to India. A report titled ‘Emerging Opportunities for Private and Foreign Participants in Higher Education’ released by research firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), states that the Indian education sector, entailing three major goals of expansion, inclusion and quality, is poised to be recognised as one of the best globally. Showcasing Indian education at it’s best to parents and students in UAE, will be ‘The Great India Education Fair,’- (TGIEF) from 29th January to 1st February 2014 at Expo Centre, Sharjah. TGIEF is a part of the ‘International Education Show’, the largest education show in UAE.

‘The Great India Education Fair,’ hopes to attract UAE parents, known to view Indian education, as a great pedestal for ‘higher education’ and ‘jobs’ in the most developed countries. The exhibition also hopes to catch the attention of the Non-Resident Indian diaspora in UAE, which comprises one of the largest communities in UAE. A Diaspora that comprises Indian businessmen, IT professionals, scientists, research fellows, students and workers, who study, work and live in UAE.

“Our exhibition is the perfect platform for parents and students in UAE to connect with Indian educational institutions directly on a face to face basis,” states, Mr. Sanjeev Bolia, Founder & Managing Director of ‘Afairs Exhibition & Media Pvt. Ltd.’ organisers of the TGIEF. He believes that this exhibition is as much a platform of opportunity as it is one for generating awareness about the merits of Indian education.

Observing the rising number of UAE students entering India on student visas to study in international boarding schools and Indian colleges and universities, he states, “It is obvious that UAE parents are very discerning and keen to give their children the best education they can. They send their children to India because they understand that English language proficiency apart, the cost-benefit advantage an Indian education offers them is greater than what a similar education in the United Kingdom, the United States or even in UAE can give them!”

Geared to help visitors comprise of Parents and Students along with NRI Indians in UAE to ‘think in terms of global educational options, ‘The Great India Education Fair’ will exhibit some of the high ranking and well-known residential schools in India like Genesis Global School (Delhi NCR), Vidya Sanskar International School (Faridabad), Unison World School (Dehradun), Jain International School (Bangalore), Greenwood High (Bangalore), International School Aamby (Pune) etc. These will offer the Indian ‘ICSE’ and ‘CBSE’ board curriculums, as well as international curriculums like the ‘IB - International Baccalaureate’ and the ‘IGCSE.’ With the promise of providing excellent infrastructural facilities, teaching staff, grooming, outdoor activities and sports, these schools will also offer ‘spot admissions’ and spot counseling facilities’ at the exhibition.

The fair will also showcase some of the premier, Indian universities, colleges and higher education institutions, offering varied academic, professional and vocational programmes. ‘Spot counselling’ and ‘spot admission’ offers will be among the highlights of this exhibition. Some of the participating institutions are Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Alliance University, Nitte University, M S Ramaiah, Acharya Institutes, Manav Rachna International University, Apeejay Stya University, etc. EdCIL, a government of India enterprise is also participating to provide information about various courses in India.

‘The Great India Education Fair’ will cater to parents of 6+ to 18 year olds, as well as school and college-going students. It will highlight the strengths of the Indian education system, such as the importance that Indian schools and colleges place on English and computers; their globally recognised qualifications; their multicultural learning environments and the reasonable cost of their programmes.

Residential schools from across the Indian sub-continent, offering primary, middle and higher secondary level education, will participate at the fair. Premier colleges, universities and institutes at the fair, will offer undergraduate, postgraduate, professional and vocational courses, in the science, commerce and arts streams. Counseling about stringent admission procedures, spot registrations and a range of traditional and new age professional and vocational courses in India will also be provided to visitors.

The International Education Show will be held at Expo Centre Sharjah from 29th January to 1st February. The admission is free for all. Exhibition Timings are from 9am to 2pm and 4pm to 8pm on 29th, 30th January and 1st February. 4pm to 8pm only on Friday, 31st January. Special timings from 9am to 2pm for GIRLS only on 29th January and for BOYS only on 30th January.
