Emirates Post Signs Agreement To Issue Stamps On Sharjah Islamic Culture Capital 2014

Emirates Post Group has signed an agreement with the Executive Committee for the 'Sharjah Capital of Islamic Culture 2014 Celebrations' to issue commemorative stamps in celebration of Sharjah being named the 'Islamic Culture Capital of the Arab Region for 2014', as part of the Islamic Culture Capital programme, which is sponsored and supervised by the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).

The agreement was signed by Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam, Chief Commercial Officer, Emirates Post Group, and Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Noman, Head of the Finance Committee and Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, in Sharjah.

"We are delighted to partner with Emirates Post Group to issue special stamps to celebrate the selection of the Sharjah emirate as the Islamic Culture Capital of the Arab region for 2014," commented Mr. Al Noman. "We are proud that Sharjah has successfully blended Islamic values with modern developments, while ensuring a family-type lifestyle to all residents. These special stamps that will effectively carry this important honour to all corners of the globe."

Sharjah was given this title at the 4th session of the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers, which was held in Algeria.

Thanks to its long history and scientific reputation, Sharjah has managed to hold a prominent cultural position in the UAE and the wider Arab region. It has distinctively contributed to Islamic and human culture through the vision of its wise leadership in the scientific, cultural, literary and artistic pursuits.

Sharjah, with its university city and numerous scientific research facilities, manuscript libraries and archaeological centres, has been a magnet for researchers, as well as art, culture and science enthusiasts.

In addition to its famous Islamic monuments, schools, mosques and public parks, Sharjah boasts literary and intellectual institutions that are active in stirring the cultural life of individuals and groups and organising cultural festivals, including book fairs, painting exhibitions, theatrical performances and translation and publishing activities.
