The Ministry of Economy has completed preparations for hosting the 15th GCC Joint Exhibition, which is set to be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, from 26 - 30 May at the Sharjah Expo Centre.
The event is expected to feature more than 200 exhibitors from the Gulf region including 70 participants from the UAE. The UAE participation, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Economy, will include federal entities as well as representatives from the private sector.
Speaking on the eve of the event, His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, said: “The keenness of the UAE in organizing the GCC Joint Exhibition with utmost professionalism reflects our commitment to promoting mutual cooperation and economic integration among the GCC players, a requirement that has gained added significance given the surge in global competitiveness. Through such events, we seek to facilitate collaborative projects that support the developmental process of the GCC region. The event comes at a time when the volume of bilateral trade between Gulf countries grew by 5.5% during 2013 to US$93 billion from nearly US$88 billion dollars in 2012.”
His Excellency called upon the citizens of the GCC region to work towards increased economic and social integration of the region. Noting the progress marked in establishing the GCC common market, he said the member states had especially managed to facilitate mobility among citizens and allowed open trade in specific activities such as investment in the stock market and real estate ownership.
The Minister emphasized that the GCC Joint Exhibition is a platform for the private sector entities in the region to come together and explore opportunities for boosting trade and joint investments among the six GCC countries.
