Crescent Enterprises And Sharjah Tatweer Forum Partner To Cultivate Sharjahs Next Generation Of Business Leaders
(3 June 2014)

Crescent Enterprises today signed a partnership agreement with the Tatweer Sharjah Forum, a non-profit independent entity founded by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, supporting the launch of its newest initiative, the Sharjah Leadership Program. In cooperation with the American University of Sharjah, the Sharjah Leadership Program aims to increase the Emirate’s international competitiveness by empowering its future leaders with international best business practice knowledge and corporate management skills.

“The Crescent Group has had the privilege of growing alongside Sharjah’s economy for over four decades, witnessing first-hand the incredible developmental strides made by the Emirate, especially from an economic perspective. Today, we are celebrating the new opportunities which have emerged in an almost borderless world of  business, but also  realise that in order for us to continue to compete in a competitive marketplace, it is imperative that our scholars are not only learning the tasks of business, but also necessary ideals  such as best business practice, transparency, and accountability. With the future firmly resting in the hands of the UAE’s brightest achievers, many of whom are participating in the Sharjah Leadership Program, it is an honour to support this proactive initiative that incorporates all of these essential elements,” commented Badr Jafar, CEO of Crescent Enterprises and Managing Director of the Crescent Group.

Over a course of sixth months, the Sharjah Leadership Program will draw on a variety of management principles to train and empower UAE Nationals and expatriate mid-level managers aged between 25 and 35 from the private and public sector. In addition to lecture-style classes at the American University of Sharjah, participants will perform a variety of group workshops and team projects to put theoretical practice to work, as well as attend field visits to various sectors throughout the Emirate, including several of Crescent Enterprises’ operations.

Jassem Al Bloushi, Chairman of the Sharjah Tatweer Forum commented: “The Sharjah Leadership Program has been created with direct input from senior officials from across the Government and private sector as a unified programme with the aim of developing Sharjah’s future leaders to drive the success of the Emirate as a whole.  The support of leading UAE firms such as Crescent Enterprises around the Sharjah Leadership Program, is confirmation of their commitment towards developing the next generations of leaders in Sharjah. We are delighted to welcome Crescent Enterprises part of the group of partners working towards a prosperous future for the Emirate.”

Badr Jafar added: “It is a very exciting time for the Emirate, which is seeking to invest heavily in a number of areas, including AED 11 billion worth of infrastructure projects set to be awarded by the end of 2014, representing a 25 per cent increase on 2013 according to research conducted by MEED. With several new opportunities just round the corner, it is vital that we have the right support in place within local companies to further enhance this development and increase competitiveness across the Emirate, and programmes such as the Sharjah Leadership Program are well set to start implementing these foundations.”

The 2014 programme will run for six months starting September 2014, and will see 20 UAE Nationals and 4 Expats take part in a total of 19 sessions taught by lecturers from the American University of Sharjah. Participants will be required to hold a Bachelor Degree with a minimum of three years of experience working in the public or private sector to participate.

Mr. Jassem Al Bloushi also presented Mr. Badr Jafar with an Honorary Membership for the Sharjah Tatweer Forum in recognition of his support and collaboration, as well as for the numerous initiatives and projects he has led for Sharjah and the UAE surrounding corporate governance and entrepreneurship.
