The Sharjah 2014 Stamp Exhibition, held at Mega Mall from November 11-15, demonstrates the rich history associated with Islamic culture in recognition of Sharjah's position as the UAE's Islamic cultural capital.
Professionals from the Emirates Philatelic Association (EPA) will be on hand to provide information about the exhibition, which explores the heritage of the Emirati culture and regional religion through a vibrant display of stamps and postal accoutrements, some of which date back to the 1800s.
More than 30 renowned international post authorities and philatelic traders will participate in the exhibition, showcasing and selling stamps, coins, philatelic covers and stationary.
Additionally, an auction, organized by the EPA, will be held on November 14 at 7 pm, alongside the exhibition in Mega Mall. Lots in the auction will include rare philatelic items from around the world.
Abdullah Al Khamis, PR and Government Relations Manager, Mega Mall, said: "Mega Mall is keen to emphasize Sharjah's strong positioning as the UAE's hub for Islamic culture, and which is truly represented in this exquisitely curated exhibition. Every year the Sharjah Stamp Exhibition brings together the finest philatelic examples. We encourage the UAE's philatelists, and anyone interested in culture, heritage and the Islamic religion, to come and explore this intriguing exhibition."
Abdulla Khoory, President of the Emirates Philatelic Association, said: "We are truly exploring the history of our region's culture, history and religion at this year's exhibition, which emphasizes the role of philately in recording and retelling our past. This year's exhibition not only tells the tale of a revered form of communication, but emphasizes the powerful story of our nation's religion, too."
