Bee’ah Holds Internal Fundraising Initiative To Provide Winter Supplies For Levant Regions
(14 January 2015)

Bee'ah, the Sharjah Environment Company, has run a donation event at its head office to raise money for the refugees based in camps around the Levant area, as well as making its own donation of AED 235,000 to the cause. All proceeds are to go to the Emirates Red Crescent to purchase winter supplies for the refugees.

The event follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The UAE launched a humanitarian initiative to help alleviate the suffering of the refugees based in several camps around the Levant regions, in the face of the Snowstorm Huda, which has already claimed the lives of four refugees, including children.

The Bee'ah team was encouraged to donate money and winter supplies, including blankets, jackets, gloves and scarves. In attendance was Salim bin Mohamed Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bee'ah, who made the donation of AED 200,000 on behalf of the company, presenting a ceremonial cheque to a representative of Red Crescent.

Speaking about the initiative, Meera Taryam, Director of Environmental Services and Education at Bee'ah, said,
"His Highness's Tarahamu (UAE Compassion) campaign for refugees is an extremely important and worthwhile cause, one which we feel a strong duty to get behind. The team at Bee'ah feels that this donation-raising initiative was the very least we could do to hopefully provide some relief to refugees in extremely dire conditions, with no electricity and very limited food and water. The efforts by Red Crescent to provide winter supplies to the refugees are absolutely critical, especially in the face of the hostile storms battering the Levant area."
