The inaugural day of the upcoming International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2015) will include an interview with Julia Gillard, 27th Prime Minister of Australia and the first woman to hold this position. During her interview, Gillard will share insights on her experience in leading the Australian government, successfully managing the country’s economy during the global financial crisis, and the efforts made to develop education, health and social welfare.
Gillard will additionally outline challenges that are likely to hinder the development of government communication and impact the future relationship between governments, people and the media.
The interview on February 22 forms part of a series of sessions that seek to highlight the individual experience and expertise of leaders around the globe. Launched at the second IGCF, interview sessions were well received by forum’s audience. The session with Julia Gillard will be moderated by Stephen Sackur, Presenter of the BBC’s award-winning HARDtalk programme.
Osama Samra, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, said: “With each edition of IGCF, discussions take on broader perspectives and spotlight a more diversified spectrum of topics. We closely follow global events and changes taking place in the world and seek to develop mega events of the same calibre in the UAE.”
He added: “The forum offers a platform for outstanding leaders to share their valuable expertise in government communication with the public. We are confident IGCF 2015 will provide government communication professionals with a valuable opportunity to learn from leading personalities, while inspiring the implementation of best practices in the UAE’s government communication mechanisms.”
