The Ministry of Economy has received a distinction for ‘Best Government Communication Strategy in the UAE’ at the second edition of the Sharjah Government Communication Awards (GCA 2015) organized by the Sharjah Media Centre. 

His Excellency Mohammed Al-Shehhi, Undersecretary for Economic Affairs, received the award from His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, at a special ceremony held at Al Jawhara Ballroom in Sharjah on April 5 in the presence of government officials, eminent media personalities and community figures.

Ibrahim Al Abed, Director General of the National Media Council and Chairman of the GCA Special Jury, said the award acknowledges the excellent efforts of the Ministry of Economy’s Communication Directorate in implementing a proactive government communication strategy.

Commenting on the win, His Excellency Mohammed Al Shehhi, Under-Secretary for Economic Affairs, Ministry of Economy, said: “This award validates our continuing efforts towards ensuring effective communication with our internal and external stakeholders. Communication has today become a major pillar in enabling government departments and organizations to achieve their strategic goals. I commend the efforts of the Ministry’s Communication Directorate and thank His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, the UAE’s Minister of Economy, for his personal interest and constant follow up on all matters related to communication. I wish the Ministry’s communication team continued success in their future endeavors.”

For his part, Tareq Al Marzouqi, Director of Government Communication at the Ministry of Economy, said: “This award is the culmination of the relentless efforts and team work of the communication department in collaboration with all other directorates and departments within the Ministry. Such industry-wide recognition encourages us to step up our efforts to the highest levels of competency in line with best international practices with the ultimate aim of achieving the Ministry’s strategic goals.”
