An invitational programme hosted by the Office of the Director at the Metropolitan, the GMLC provides a unique opportunity for 12 to 15 selected museum leaders from around the world to exchange knowledge, ideas and expertise and runs from April 13–23, 2015.
The leaders are invited from regions in which museums are gaining in number and influence and H.E Manal Ataya will join the other delegates in an 11-day programme at the Metropolitan, undergoing a series of meetings, dialogues and group workshops regarding museum management and strategy with the Metropolitan’s senior specialists and administrators.
Covering a wide range of subjects, including collections management, curatorial practice in a global context, conservation and scientific research and development and membership, the aim of the colloquium is to be a laboratory for developing new, practical approaches to common challenges in museum leadership and for those lessons to be taken back to benefit the leaders’ museums around the world.
“It’s a great honour for me to attend the GMLC and represent Sharjah Museums Department,” said H.E Manal Ataya, Director General. “I am delighted to have been given this singular opportunity to not only learn a lot from my fellow colleagues but also to forge relationships with other international institutions, and of course, bring back to Sharjah the very latest best global practice in museum management from this prestigious global event.”
