To support female cancer patients through their treatment by boosting their confidence and morale, the Friends of Cancer Patients, FoCP, the cancer specific charity based in Sharjah, hosted a fun day event at Fairmont The Palm.
During the 3rd 'Colour My World' event, leading make-up artists provided workshops and Bait Al Arab, a perfume, jewelry and cosmetic accessories store, held a training class on styling scarves.
Dr. Sawsan Al Madhi, Secretary General at FoCP pointed out that the event helped women who faced the daily struggle of cancer treatment. "Enabling cancer patients to embrace a positive outlook and improve their self-esteem is an important aspect in aiding their recovery and events such as Colour My World can help. A good mental attitude is well known for having a beneficial effect on treatment outcomes and we at FoCP believe in support and care in every aspect of the patient which is why we are happy to facilitate such events. We want to applaud the strength, determination and incredible perseverance demonstrated by the female cancer patients participating in Colour My World and we want to show them that we admire them, support them and are here for the duration," she said.
Dr. Sawsan went on to call on other organisations to get involved in collaborating on future events with FoCP, saying that such collaboration brings benefits to all. Colour My World, sponsored by Fairmont The Palm, Sharjah Ladies Club and Bait Al Arab, concentrated on four key areas of concern for cancer patients: healthy life, awareness raising around early cancer detection, achieving treatment for all, and maximising their quality of life. Twenty five women who are being supported by FoCP took part.
Gift bags were provided to participants by Bait Al Arab, containing perfume and scarves, whilst Sharjah Ladies Club provided the make-up boxes for the professional makeup artists to perform mini-make overs, while Fairmont The Palm provided the venue and the catering.
