The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), is set to showcase its latest projects and destinations in this year’s edition of the World Travel Market (WTM), which will take place in London on November 2 – 5.

Operating under the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority’s (SCTDA) pavilion at WTM, the (Shurooq) stand will feature Authority’s newest developments, including the Al Noor Island, a 45,470 square meter development and the Arab World’s first island to combine nature, art and entertainment, and Mleiha Archaeological and Eco- tourism Project, where visitors can explore the region’s diverse wildlife.

During the four-day event, (Shurooq) will also promote the Al Montazah, Sharjah’s first Amusement and Water Park, which consists of two main sections; the Water Park which offers world-class facilities and water rides, and the Amusement Park that offers a variety of electronic games, adventures and many more facilities.

Commenting on the subject, Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Operating Officer of (Shurooq): “The UAE continues to be one of the British nationals’ favourite holiday destinations, making the UK the second most important source market for tourism to the country last year. Our aim is to introduce British and European tour operators present at World Travel Market, to the diverse array of family-friendly attractions Sharjah has to offer such as: Al Qasba, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Montazah and Heart of Sharjah”.

“This year, the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), will be debuting its latest and most exciting destinations at WTM, which are the Al Noor Island, which hosts over 500 exotic butterflies and plants, Mleiha Archaeological and Eco- tourism Project and other leisure and tourism projects from Shurooq’s portfolio”.

Al Noor Island provides a unique blend of picturesque nature, art and entertainment in one destination. The Island hosts the Butterfly House, which hosts as many as 500 exotic butterflies from East Asian countries, and Literature Pavilion for intellectuals and book lovers. Al Noor Island’s design reflects the art styles of a world-renowned designer Andre Heller, who designed the Swarovski Crystal Worlds (Swarovski Kristallwelten) Museum.

Al Montazah Amusement and Water Park consists of two main sections; the Water Park which offers world-class facilities and water rides, and the Amusement Park that offers a variety of electronic games, adventures and many more facilities.

The park’s newest attraction, ‘Al Montazah Adventures’, consists of various games and obstacle courses that strengthen the body and mind. This series of outdoor activities, which caters to both sport novices and seasoned athletes alike, provides visitors with the opportunity to climb ropes, mount walls and cross trails, encouraging an exciting combination of teamwork and exploration.

Recently, Al Montazah has won the Sharjah Tourism Excellence Award for 2014 as the best new tourist destination in the emirate in recognition of its world-class facilities and services, making it a unique tourist destination for families and tourists.
