Sultan Al Qasimi Provides Personal Data To Sharjah Census
(14 December 2015)

His Highness’ participation is an incentive for all in Sharjah to provide personal information

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, provided his personal data to the Sharjah Census 2015 yesterday in support for the project and to encourage everyone to cooperate with the census teams.

This came during a visit by the Chairman of the Higher Committee for Sharjah Census 2015 and Chairman of the Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Qasimi, Director of DSCD as well as members of the census team, to Al Badi'a Palace, as part of the counting phase of the census.

The Sharjah Census 2015 was launched under the patronage of His Highness to collect statistical information to help decision-makers and organisations draw up plans to support of development and advancement of the emirate.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani thanked His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, for the provision of his personal data, adding that he hoped it would motive everyone in the emirate to participate in the project and cooperate with staff and researchers. He praised the support given to the Sharjah Census 2015 project by His Highness and for his continued guidance on the necessary requirements for the successful implementation of the census.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani said that His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah issued directives about the need to provide detailed data on six specific categories, which are orphans; divorcees, widows, and abandoned wives; the elderly; people with special needs, people who were unable to complete their education and job seekers. Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani added that this reflects His Highness’ concern for his citizens and his commitment to provide fully for their needs.

Following His Highness’ directives, the necessary steps were taken to guide the 1,300 researchers working on the Sharjah Census 2015 to provide the required data and ensure it is ready on completion of the census to help improve the lives of those in these categories.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani said: “The Sharjah Census 2015 was launched under the guidance of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, for the development of services in the emirate and the provision of all information which would help decision-makers and institutions in the emirate.”

His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, issued a decree in February 2015 to implement the Sharjah Census under the slogan "For a Better Tomorrow”. The project aims to provide reliable and accurate statistical data about economic, social, and structural information in the Emirate of Sharjah.
