Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), the organisers of the Sharjah Water Festival 2015, has announced the successful conclusion of the ninth year of the festival after five days of fun-filled activities that drew thousands of visitors from all parts of the country and the region.
The event, held from December 16 to 20 at the Khalid Lagoon and Al Majaz Waterfront in the emirate, for the first time headlined with Sharjah World Championship Week which included the power-packed action of the UIM F1H2O World Championship 2015 - Grand Prix of Sharjah, hosted by the emirate for the sixtheenth year in a row, followed by the UIM-ABP Aquabike Class Pro Circuit World Championship – Sharjah Grand Prix, held for the first time in the emirate.
The Sharjah Water Festival featured a variety of captivating activities this year, including family leisure activities, carnivals, mini stage shows, jet-ski school, free style show and a heritage village. In addition, there were celebratory activities to mark the birthday of Mouj, the festival’s mascot.
On the occasion, His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, said: “The success of another year of the Sharjah Water Festival highlights the event as one of the major festivals for families in the region and an ideal platform to reinforce Sharjah’s leading position as a hub for major international family events.”

The final round of UIM F1H2O World Championship 2015 - Sharjah Grand Prix was organised by SCTDA in cooperation with Sharjah International Marine Sports Club on December 17 and 18 at the Khalid Lagoon. The UIM-ABP Aquabike Class Pro Circuit World Championship - Grand Prix of Sharjah included participants from across the world and was held on December 19 and 20 also at the Khalid Lagoon. The championships witnessed huge participation from the public as well as enthusiastic lovers of the sport internationally.
The ninth year of the Sharjah Water Festival was supported by a number of sponsors and partners. Sharjah International Marine Sports Club was the Strategic Partner of Sharjah World Championship Week. The other partners were Department of Seaports & Customs-Government of Sharjah; Sharjah Police Headquarters; SEWA; Sharjah City Municipality; Sharjah Investment and Development Authority –SHUROOQ; Sharjah Road and Transport Authority; Civil Defence Department – Sharjah; Sharjah Museums Department and Baby Friendly City Sharjah Campaign.
