H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has issued an Emiri Decree establishing Sharjah Archaeological Authority.
The first Article of Resolution No. 57 of 2016 states that the Sharjah Archaeology Authority will be established and based in the Emirate of Sharjah. It enjoys corporate body status and full legal capacity to enable it to carry out its duties and activities so as to achieve its objectives.
The second Article says a law regulating the authority, outlining its objectives and terms of reference, will be issued.
The third Article of the Resolution annuls the Archaeology Section at the Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah. All movable and immovable assets and human resource cadres of the department will be assigned to the Authority.
This Decree is effective from the date of issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette.
