2-Day French composite materials show opens at Expo Centre Sharjah
(22 November 2016)

In a first, an international technical composites and advanced materials exhibition -- Texwork 2016 – has got under way at Expo Centre Sharjah on Tuesday (Nov 22).

After organising 16 successful editions in France, Serge Ferrari, the French leading manufacturing group in the flexible composite material sector and GL Events, a worldwide provider of integrated solutions and services for events, chose Sharjah for Texwork 2016 due to its proximity to growing markets. Texwork 2015 was held in Istanbul.

The two-day Texwork 2016, positioned as a comprehensive event right from manufacturing to final solutions, is an initiative of Serge Ferrari.

“Expo Centre Sharjah is proud to host the first international composites and advanced materials exhibition in the GCC. The show is significant for the region since the volume and number of applications of composite materials are growing steadily. The show will be a boon not only for the region but also for the surrounding areas and markets that are looking to take advantage of this new trend,” said H.E. Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO, Expo Centre Sharjah.

Through Texwork 2016, Serge Ferrari is aiming to target the entire Middle East and North Africa region, besides the high-potential markets of Indian Subcontinent and Central Asian countries. Since Serge Ferrari is very active in these markets, its teams have reported a rise demand for equipment and materials.

Texwork 2016 provides an ideal platform to meet leading manufacturers from the global technical membrane and construction industry, in addition to exploring prospects for dealerships and joint ventures to take the technology of textile architecture to new markets.

The show comes at a time when the global composites market is expected to reach an estimated US$37.3 billion by 2021 and is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 5.1% from 2016 to 2021. The major drivers of growth are increasing urban population and high growth in the building and infrastructure development, along with aerospace market.

Texwork 216 is featuring various solutions and systems, machines and accessories for the technical membrane business, coming from Italy, Slovenia, France, Germany, Sweden, Poland, the US, and the UAE along with conferences featuring well-known architects and specialists.

The event is open to professionals who look for the best of fabrics and equipment.

The show will conclude on Wednesday (Nov 23).
