The Organising Committee of the Sharjah Junior Munshid has brought the curtain down on the penultimate episode of the Arab world's most popular reality talent show, with eight exceptionally talented contestants being shortlisted for the finale.
For the first time since the chanting contest was launched three years ago, the eight finalists include six talented female singers who will sing at the concluding night, Friday, March 31, when the ultimate winner of the title will be announced.
The Sharjah Junior Munshid eight finalists are: Aya Humaid from Al Andalus School, Omar Abdullah from Abu Ayyub Al Ansari School, Ahmed Hassan Ali from Al Qudwa School, Mariam Ali Mohamad from Al Hira Model School, Iman Mohammed Abbas from Al Hijra Model School, Mouza Ibrahim Allai from Asia Bint Muzahim School, Reem Al Refae from Al Noor International School and Nataly Mukhtar Rustom from Al Olla Private School. They were shortlisted following a well-fought competition during which they gave power-packed performances that demonstrated their outstanding vocal abilities, signalling a promising future for them.
The penultimate episode commenced with an incredible performance from Aya Humaid from Al Andalus School. She was followed by Abdul Rahmam Al Khatib from Al Rushd American School and Basmala Qutob from Ibn Khaldoun School, who each received rapturous audience applause. Next contestant, Omar Abdullah from Abu Ayyub Al Ansari, mesmerised the audience with his beautiful voice and creative vocal abilities.
Fatima Khassaf from Al Olla Private School, captivated the audience and viewers with her melodious voice, reciting a song that reflected the spirit of the orient. She was followed by Nahyan Walid from Al Muhajireen School who enthralled with his strong vocal talents and then contestant Rahaf Mesmar from Al Ahliya Charity School in Sharjah, who stole the hearts of the viewers with her beautiful singing.
Next up was Ahmed Hassan Ali, who captured the admiration of the audience and panel of judges with his mellifluous tones, followed by Mariam Ali Mohamad from Al Hira Model School, who showcased her powerful on stage-charisma. Contestant Ahmed Nabil Ahmed from Salman Al Farisy School, gave a spectacular performance with his melancholy intonation, while Iman Mohammed Abbas from Al Hijra Model School, impressed with her recital of a beautiful song.
Contestants Reem Al Refae, from Al Noor International School and Mouza Ibrahim Allai, from Asia Bint Muzahim School, wowed the viewers with their incredible performances while Rahman Raja, from Al Noor International School and Nataly Mukhtar Rustom, from Al Olla Private School, and Salama Saif, from Al Dhaid Private School, concluded the episode with powerful renditions.
Najm Al Deen Hashem, Executive Director of Sharjah Junior Munshid, said: "We are immensely proud of the Sharjah Junior Munshid 2017's achievements to date and of every performer taking part over the course of the series who has been brave enough to face the audience and panel of judges. Many exceptional talents of Sharjah's school students were revealed throughout the eight episodes and was a tough job shortlisting the contestants for the semi-finals.”
"We are looking forward to the much-awaited finale and are confident that the contestants who have reached this stage all have highly promising talents that qualify them to clinch the title. Each contestant has a special talent that distinguishes them from the other performers," he emphasised.
Hashem added: "The shortlisting of this elite group of creative young singers for the finale reflects the success of the talent show's message. We wish all the contestants every success in their efforts to win the title."
Each of the eight finalists will perform a group song written and composed by artist Abdullah Al Shehi, featuring beats by artist Ahmed Radwan. The composition will be recorded and broadcast to the public during the concluding night.
Produced by Sharjah Media Corporation, the popular Sharjah Junior Munshid reality show aims to enhance the interaction of younger generations with meaningful art. Through its three rounds it aspires to entrench authentic cultural values in school pupils by offering students of all nationalities the opportunity to participate in the talent show.
The final episode of the Sharjah Junior Munshid 2017 will be broadcast on Sharjah Television at 8:00 pm, Friday, March 31 (UAE Time), followed by a rerun at on Saturday, 1 April.
