Thousands of young men and women hoping to enter into one of the most exciting phases of life – marriage – are eagerly anticipating the launch of Sharjah Bridal Fair’s (SBF’s) second edition. Organised and hosted by Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre (JRCC), this premier lifestyle event will run from 3 to 6 May, and feature more than 120 exhibitors, representing big corporates, exclusive brands and some of the region’s most prestigious fashion and beauty houses.

Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs (SCFA), SBF will cater to every need and aspiration of brides- and grooms-to-be, and everyone else looking for some exquisite wedding-themed shopping, providing them an invaluable opportunity to profit from a wide spectrum of activities that will cover health, beauty and lifestyle. The Fair will feature workshops on health and nutrition, and give out useful information on travel and tourism, with a focus on honeymoon destinations.

Sprawling across an area of 5,500 Square Meters, the fair is expected to attract more than 6,000 visitors. Both male and female participants will benefit from an array of discussion panels and seminars that will address issues of Pre–wedding stress management, detailed insights into the essential requirements of married life, how to overcome challenges, and more. An elite panel of social and psychological experts will chair these discussions.

Famous Emirati makeup artist, Layaly, will be conducting makeup masterclass on 3 and 6 May. Another one on nutrition, healthy diets and fitness – focussing on effective weight loss strategies, will be taken by Clinical Dietician, Dr Lama Al Naeli.

A discussion panel, exploring the personal experiences of social media influencer Mathayel Al Ali, will address the journey of single women and men transitioning into married life, and how to swiftly adapt to a whole new life. Another discussion panel, ‘The Pre – wedding Stress Management’, will be moderated by Hend Al Bedwawi, Psychological Consultant; Shahd Al Jumaily, Managing Director of the Architales, and Hessa Al Jasmi will take part in this panel to share her experience with the audience as a recent bride.

The fair will have a wide variety of offerings including, stands displaying wedding dresses and Jelbabs (heavy abayas), event organisers, flower arrangement companies, perfume stands, dental clinics and beauty salons, wedding cakes and desserts professionals, jewellery brands, hairstylists and make-up artists.

From tips and golden advice on how to choose the right wedding venue, to the most memorable honeymoon destinations – the information packet for each visitor will be customised in accordance with their preference, requirements as well as their personality type.

The Sharjah Bridal Fair Fashion Awards under three categories, ‘Best Casual Ready-to-Wear Collection’, ‘Best Evening Abaya’ and ‘Best Evening Wear Collection’, will be hosted during the Fair, and see great competition among participants.  The Award’s purpose is to encourage the best talents in fashion design by providing them a platform to showcase their creativity.

The Fair’s second competition, the ‘Sharjah Bridal Fair Beauty Awards’, will recognise UAE’s top professional makeup artists and hair stylists. Participants will be judged on the basis of their technical skill and creative ability, and win awards under the categories - ‘Best Bridal Hairstylist’ and ‘Best Bridal Makeup Artist’.

The fair will host a raffle draw with an approximate total value of AED 100,000, alongside the competitions mentioned above.

The proceeds of the entrance fee, AED 10 per ticket, will be donated by SBF 2017 to the ‘Ameera Fund’, which was launched by Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi in October last year to help cancer patients. The Fund was started in memory of the late Ameera BinKaram, whose charitable spirit and tireless efforts in humanitarian fields, especially cancer treatment and care, are among the most prominent in the world.
